Welcome to my website!

Let me introduce myself, I’m Melissa Bennett, and I am excited for you to read my books.

I’d love to get to know you too, but since this is one way communication, let me start.

I am a Christian - an imperfect person who is doing her best to live into the Gospel of Jesus Christ laid out in the Bible. I fail regularly and fully rely on God’s mercy, grace, and forgiveness. Everything else you could learn about me is secondary to, and colored by this truth.

I was born in Akron, Ohio, but moved to Waco, Texas when I was eight. As they say in Texas, I got there as fast as I could. (LOL) I’m very fond of my Texas roots. Currently I live in the suburbs of Kansas City with my husband of 30+ years and two spoiled rotten Miniature Schnauzers.

In my 50 years on this earth I have worn many hats. There are too many favorites to mention individually, but “Mama” is at the top. We thoroughly enjoyed raising my four children. Through every phase, the highs and lows, I would not trade a millisecond of that time with them. And boy do I have a myriad of hilarious stories! Now they’re grown. (Since I haven’t yet reached “Gigi” status, my kids are still my biggest blessing. However, I hear that grand-parenting is a much better gig.)

If you spend any time with me at all, you will quickly learn that I adore dogs - every shape, size, and breed. The Westminster Dog Show is on my watch list every year. There is an overwhelming urge inside my soul to pet every dog I see. Yes, that’s me, the one in the corner at a party interacting with the dog and ignoring people, at least for a while.

I also truly enjoy people. My family says I’ve never met a stranger. Which is closer to truth than fiction. Honestly, I believe that there is something in all of us that we can connect to. It’s called the human experience, and for my part, I want to do what I can to make that experience better while I’m with another human.

At fifty something years old, I never thought that I’d be taking on a new hat - author. I am giddy with excitement! C.S. Lewis is credited with saying, “You are never to old to set another goal or dream a new dream.” I have adopted that wholeheartedly. I hope to be writing for a very long time to bring readers a unique voice and perspective. In short, I hope you read and enjoy my books.

If you have any questions for me, head over to the Contact page and send me an email. I would love to hear from you!

Blessings ~ Melissa
